Position Description:
The position description and responsibilities of the comptroller are outlined in the Student Body Constitution and Student Body Statues:
Student Body Constitution
SECTION SIX Student Body Comptroller The Student Body Comptroller shall:
A. keep a record of all allocations and expenditures of Student Body funds;
B. submit to the Student Senate, upon request, a written report of the state of the treasury;
C. be responsible for all accounting work;
D. serve as consultant for all bank dealings;
E. serve as consultant for all Business Office affairs;
F. be responsible for all receipts from organizations and clubs receiving funding from the Student Senate.
G. serve as a non-voting ex-officio member of the Student Senate.
The Student Body Comptroller shall be appointed by the Student Body Treasurer subject to the approval of the Student Senate by a simple majority vote.
Student Body Statues
§5-3.7. Student Body Comptroller.
The Student Body Comptroller shall be considered a Student Body Officer and the senior appointed official of the Department. In addition to such duties assigned in the
Constitution, the Comptroller shall:
a. Advise the Treasurer on all matters concerning accounting, banking, and transmittal of funds;
b. Provide semiannually a comprehensive written report to the Senate on the status of all accounts and budgets of Student Government and its subsidiaries;
c. Oversee all financial record keeping, including the management of receipts.
Requirements:
- 5-10 office hours per week (located in 306 Witherspoon Student Center)
- Passed ACC 210 with a grade of C or better by the effective date of appointment
The position of comptroller is important to the financial function of Student Government (SG). The position requires that the comptroller enter the SG office 2 to 3 times per
week minimum to attend to financial office tasks. The position requires a dedicated individual with interest in making SG fiscally sound.
Compensation:
The position is entitled to an annual stipend of $1000.
