WHEREAS,    The NC State University Student Body Statutes Chapter 3-8.7 created a position in the name of Student Body Public Defender.

WHEREAS,    that current position states in the statutes the following, ÒThe executive authority of the Department of the Public Defender shall rest with the Student Body Public Defender, as appointed by the Student Body President. The Student Body Public Defender shall be a Class 1 Executive Appointment. The Student Body Public Defender shall be the first appointment considered by the Senate Committee on Government Operations following a nomination for this position by the Student Body President. now therefore be it,

RESOLVED,  that the Student Senate to date has not seen any nomination or appointment to look after the students of NC State University. The senate recommends that executive branch leadership identify candidates for the position of Student Body Public Defender.

RESOLVED,  the Senate recommends immediate appointment at the earliest time available of a Student Body Public Defender to protect the overall interests and representation to the equal protection of the Student Body of NC State University.
