Attendance:

There were five (5) members (Bascombe, Chiang, Goldsmith, Lindh, Nelson) present.

There were no members absent.

A quorum was present.

Meeting Overview:

This was a "WELCOME TO GOVERNMENT OPERATION" meeting. The topic covered were as follows:

-Election of committee positions.
-Overview of committee functions and procedures.
-Implementation of attendance policy for Senate and Committee meetings.
-Adjournment.

Meeting Minutes:

The new implementation of the attendance policy will be presented to the following Senate meeting informing of all senators of the attendance policy. This policy will give senators the option to inform government operations of their future absences with or without penalty by submitting an absent form. This form will be provided through email document and also in paper form being kept in the student government office. The senator needs to fill out this form in case of what government operations deem acceptable as an "excused" absence from a committee meeting or senate meeting. This form need to be filled out with their excuse and place in the government operations box in the SG office or emailed to the chairman (Sarah: sdlindh@ncsu.edu). These forms will be collected before each Senate meeting approximately at 7:00 PM on the eve of the Senate meetings for revision. The chairman (Sarah) and 1 other committee member will review each claim and be declared "excused" or "not excused". This information will be turned over to the Senate Secretary (Sam) for notice during roll call so that he can either enter the senator as absent or here, depending on the committee decision. This will also work towards committee meetings. Each paper copy will be kept in the Government Operations committee for reference if questioned. All details will be given at the following Senate meeting.

Government Operations committee plans on drafting a senate resolution stating the current policy for attendance. Included will be the requirements and information needed to file for an excuse. What the committee deems as an "excuse" will be included and will act upon the resolution implementation.

The positions voted on during the meeting are the following:
Vice Chair: David Bascombe Jr.
Secretary: Heather Chiang
