Committee Minutes, Wednesday, November 4th 2009

Senator Jason Hayes submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Wednesday, November 4th 2009, on behalf of the Tuition and Fees Committee, and pursuant to its Wednesday, November 4th 2009 recommendations:

Attendance:

There were four (4) members (Bloodworth, Jasmine Brown, Hayes, Kosht) present.

There were no members absent.

The following officials were also present: Center, Donnelly.

A quorum was present.

Meeting Overview:

This meeting was called to continue the discussion about the Tuition Reconsideration Act and make a final draft.

This meeting was called to order by Senator Bloodworth this 4th day of November at 6:59PM

Bloodworth: Met with Julie Mallette and she gave us somethings to work on and look at.
CITI funds benefit campus
Class sections, TA’s and everything else funded by CITI funds
After the meeting: Working on the Tuition bill with Bloodworth and Kouba
Tuition Review Committee sent their recommendations to the Chancellor already.
Draft is written and will be finished by the end of the evening.
This will be a shell version of the bill for all other UNC System schools…
$200 increase really hurts other schools like Elizabeth City where it is an enormous chunk of money for them.
We recommend a $150 increase for in state; $200 for out-of-state and graduates, agreeing with the Tuition Review Committee.
This $200 increase would put the Financial Aid Office $2 Million in the hole if it does not go to CITI funds.
