§8-1. Definitions and conventions.

Within this chapter, the following definitions and conventions shall apply:

  1. “Wolf Aide” refers to a freshman member of the Wolf Aides.
  2. “Director” refers to the Director of the Wolf Aides Program.
  3. “Directors” refers collectively to the Director and all Associate and Assistant Director of the Wolf Aides Program.
  4. “Commission” refers to the Wolf Aides Commission.
  5. The “agency” refers to the Wolf Aides Program, a Student Government Agency.

§8-2. Name.

The name of this organization shall be The North Carolina State University Student Government Wolf Aides Program, and may be referred to as simply the Wolf Aides Program.

§8-3. Affiliation.

The Wolf Aides Program shall be considered an Agency of the North Carolina State University Student Government, as defined by SBS §3-1.1, and shall be regulated through these statutes and their bylaws.

§8-4. Objective.

The objective of the Wolf Aides program is to produce and sustain an effective community of student leaders at North Carolina State University.

§8-5. Focus.

The Wolf Aides Program shall provide content relating to Leadership Development, the University’s administration, the rest of Student Government, and other student leadership opportunities on campus.

Part I. Membership

§8-6. Membership Eligibility.

Membership in the Wolf Aides Program shall only be extended to first year students in good standing with the University.

§8-7. Membership Selection.

The Commission shall establish a comprehensive membership selection procedure in the Wolf Aides By-Laws. At minimum the membership selection procedure shall include an interview process.

Part II. Directors

§8-8. Wolf Aide Director.

The Wolf Aides Director shall be considered a Student Government Official, and shall have executive authority over the agency, and shall specifically:

  1. Execute all meetings of the Wolf Aides, the Wolf Aides Directors, and the Wolf Aides Commission;
  2. Report in writing monthly on the operations of the program to Student Senate;
  3. Report on the affairs of the agency to the Cabinet;
  4. Advise the Student Body President on the status on the program;
  5. Coordinate the activities of the associate and assistant directors;
  6. Oversee the interview and application process.

§8-9. Selection of Director.

The Student Body President shall appoint a Director no later than first Sunday of March, subject to the majority confirmation of the Senate. There shall be no qualifications for Director beyond those of a Student Government Official.

§8-10. Associate Directors.

Director may appoint any number of Wolf Aides Associate Directors, subject to the majority confirmation of the Commission, who shall be considered Student Government Officials. The position shall be exempt from the dual office-holding ban of SBS §1-4, but no Associate Director may hold a second Student Government Office within the Wolf Aides Program. Associate Directors shall report to the Director and shall have specific permanent duties as designated by the Director. The Director shall designate one Associate Director as Senior Associate Director, who shall discharge the duties of the Director in his or her absence.

§8-11. Assistant Directors.

The Director may appoint any number of Assistant Directors who shall not be considered Student Government Officials. Assistant Directors shall be distinguished from Associate Directors by irregular involvement, less responsibility, and/or less discretion.

§8-12. Wolf Aides Webmaster.

The Wolf Aides Director shall designate one of the Directors Wolf Aide Webmaster, who shall maintain a website for the agency on space provided by the Division of Web Development. The Wolf Aides Webmaster shall comply with all regulations of and concerning the Division of Web Development.

§8-13. Terms of Office.

The term of the Wolf Aides Director shall end upon the appointment and confirmation of his or her successor. Associate and Assistant Directors shall serve at the discretion of the Director. Non-director members of the Commission shall serve terms as provided by SBS §3-2.

Part III. Wolf Aides Commission.

§8-14. Wolf Aides Commission.

The Wolf Aides Commission shall be considered a Student Body Commission, in residence to the Agency, and shall have the following reserved powers:

  1. to enact and amend the Wolf Aides Budget;
  2. to enter into contracts, consistent with Student Government financial regulations;
  3. to suspend or remove Wolf Aides, Assistant Directors, and Associate Director, per §8-14;
  4. to review and approve or disapprove all major changes to the program, as proposed by the Director; and
  5. to enact and amend the Wolf Aides Bylaws per §8-17.

§8-15. Commission Composition.

The Wolf Aides Commission shall be chair by the Wolf Aides Director, and shall be comprised of the following individuals:

  1. The Wolf Aides Director;
  2. The Senior Associate Wolf Aides Director;
  3. Two (2) Associate Wolf Aides Directors, selected by the Student Body President;
  4. One (1) representative from each of the Student Senate, Executive Branch, and Judicial Boards, selected by the Student Body President; and
  5. The Student Body Treasurer or his or her designate.

§8-16. Limit for non-Directors.

The Commission members holding non-Wolf Aides Director seats shall take no day-to-day role in the operation or conduct of the program, and shall be barred from holding any other position within the agency. Such members shall retain a responsibility to protect the best interests of the Program.

Part IV. Disciplinary Procedures.

§8-17. Removal of Directors.

The Director and all Associate Directors are considered Student Government Officials, and as such are subject to the punitive powers of the Senate per §2-2. The Commission may remove any Associate or Assistant Director by a three-fourths (3/4) vote of the Board.

§8-18. Removal of Wolf Aides.

The Commission may remove a Wolf Aide from the program with documented due cause, including excessive absences, as outlined in the Wolf Aides Bylaws. The Commission shall remove no Wolf Aide by less than a three-fourths (3/4) vote. Should a Wolf Aide be removed from a Student Government office by action of the Senate, they are to be automatically dismissed from the Wolf Aides Program.

Part V. Miscellaneous.

§8-19. Wolf Aides holding office.

  1. The position of Wolf Aide shall not be considered a Student Government Office.
  2. The Wolf Aides Program shall encourage Wolf Aides to seek and hold other positions within Student Government.
  3. The Wolf Aides Directors and Commission shall take no action to discourage any Wolf Aide from becoming actively involved in Student Government during their tenure as a Wolf Aide.

§8-20. Amendments to The Wolf Aides Bylaws.

The Wolf Aides Bylaws shall be the by-laws of this chapter of The Student Body Statutes, and shall be enacted or amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members of the Commission, provided that the details of the proposed amendment have been announced to the commission members seven (7) calendar days prior to the meeting at which it is to be considered.

§8-21. Oversight.

Oversight of the agency may be exercised by the Committee on Government Operations, which shall have the power to review the records of the agency, compel report of its members, and to make recommendations to the Director, President, or Senate regarding its improvement.
