Group Pages & Typography
Currently, I'm trying to slowly revamp the SGIMS system that a previous Webmaster deployed in the early 2000's with a newer version that will allow for a better "look." Although it seemed like an easy change, it's currently a huge undertaking, since when finished all of the group pages will be able to be updated with a change of parameters. To look at the current items of the group pages, click here.
Along with the group pages, I'm slowly changing the look of the website. As more pages get added, more 'customized' pages are being developed which is counter-productive to a consistent layout. The more styled pages that get developed, the harder it will be for the next webmaster to edit them. After the group pages, I'm going to be looking back at the style sheets of the website, and re-work it to make it easier to understand and to maintain cross-browser support.
Along these lines, I will be looking back at the styling of some xhtml items for formatting. These include:
- Unordered & ordered lists
- h3 elements and the use of p-class first
- Consistent styling of header elements
- Changing the layout to use padding instead of negative margins.
- Floating & non-floating items (quotes, blog titles, etc)
