WHEREAS, Kay Yow has served as N.C. State University's Women's Basketball Coach since 1975; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow has amassed more than 550 victories during her tenure as Coach of the Wolfpack Women; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow is among the top five winningest active coaches in Division I Women's Basketball; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow coached five teams to ACC Regular Season Championships, in 1978, 1980, 1983, 1985, and 1990; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow has led the Wolfpack Women to 16 seasons with 20 or more wins; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow has won four ACC Tournament Championships in 1980, 1985, 1987, and 1991; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow has led the Wolfpack Women to the NCAA Tournament 14 times, including nine Sweet Sixteen appearances; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow led the 1998 Women's Basketball Team to the NCAA Final Four; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow is the only coach to win gold medals at the Olympics and the World Championships, for an overall International Coaching record of 21-1; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow has been inducted into the Women's Sports Hall of Fame and North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in June; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow has also served as an advocate for various charitable organizations, including the Lineburger Cancer Research Center, the House Of Hope, and the Race for the Cure; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow was presented the President and Mrs. George Bush Community Impact Award last November; and,

WHEREAS, Kay Yow has dedicated 25 years of her life towards building the NC State Women's Basketball team to national prominence and promoting women's athletics; now, therefore be it,

RESOLVED, that the NC State University Student Senate hereby recognizes Kay Yow for her outstanding contributions and unfailing service to NC State University.
