A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT CONCERNING THE FORMULATION OF A COMMISSION TO STUDY THE ISSUE OF ACADEMIC ADVISING AT NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY

 

Short Title: Academic Advising Act. (Public)

WHEREAS, the mission of N.C. State University is to provide a quality education to its students; and,

WHEREAS, Effective academic advising facilitates the educational process for students at N.C. State University; and,

WHEREAS, Various academic departments on campus undertake academic advising in a variety of forms; and,

WHEREAS, The needs of some students are not being met by the current system of academic advising; and,

WHEREAS, It is extremely difficult to identify means by which N.C State University may meet the needs of these students without undertaking a comprehensive study of academic advising; and,

WHEREAS, It is vital that students, faculty, and administrators are all involved in working together to determine solutions for improving academic advising; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the N.C. State University Student Senate requests that the Office of the Provost form a committee to study academic advising at N.C. State University comprised of students, faculty, and administrators; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that the N.C. State University Student Senate requests that the committee develop methods to improve the quality of academic advising at N.C. State University.
