A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO ALLOCATE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A COMPUTER WORKSTATION FOR GENERAL AND WEB DEVELOPMENT USE

Short Title: Computer Purchase Act. (Public)

WHEREAS, the previous computer workstation available for general student government use ceased operation during the summer of 2000; and,

WHEREAS, a sole computer workstation is available for both the division of web development and general student government use; and,

WHEREAS, tasks performed by the division of web development can be time consuming and restrict the availability of the current computer workstation for general student government use; and,

WHEREAS, the availability of a computer workstation is vital for all student government officials so that they may research student issues, correspond with university administration, and prepare legislation for introduction; and,

WHEREAS, there has been a lengthy history of the purchase of office machines for use by student government officials, be they manual typewriters, electronic typewriters, or computer workstations; now; therefore be it

ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

$636.94 from line-item 1005, student.ncsu.edu-Web Development, be allocated for the purchase of a Computer Workstation, to be assembled by the Division of Web Development from parts as follows:

Intel Celeron 700 Mhz $120.00;
Pentium/Celeron Fan $6.99;
20 GB UDMA Hard Drive $124.99;

ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that the Student Body Treasurer shall be authorized to expend reasonable funds to establish the computer workstation on the university network within the confines of 307A Witherspoon Student Center.
