RESOLUTION 64

 

A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT CONCERNING THE USE OF THE TELEPHONIC REGISTRATION FEE FOR NEED BASED FINANCIAL AID.

 

Short Title: Financial Aid Act.                                                             (Public)

Sponsored by:  Senators DAVIS, PALIN, K. SMITH, and WICKS.

WHEREAS,   unmet financial need for the 1999-2000 academic year totaled ______; and,

 

WHEREAS,   _______ students had an average unmet financial need of _______; and,

 

WHEREAS,   due to increased enrollment projected unmet need equals _______; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the $4.00 Telephonic Registration Student Fee is used to maintain telephonic registration; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the online TRACS registration system has rendered telephonic registration obsolete; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the monies from this fee could provide more than $100,000 to address unmet financial need; and,

 

WHEREAS,   this money should be used to address the most severe cases of unmet need; and,

 

WHEREAS,   using these monies to aid first generation college students would have a revitalizing effect on the communities from which they come; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED,  that the North Carolina State University Student Senate recommends that the $4.00 Telephonic Registration Fee be used continuously to address unmet financial need.
