A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO ALLOCATE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A STUDENT GOVERNMENT LAPTOP FOR PRIMARY USE BY

THE STUDENT SENATE SECRETARY

 

Short Title: Laptop Allocation Act (Public)

WHEREAS, Student Senate meetings can exceed seven hours in duration; and,

WHEREAS, the Student Senate Secretary must maintain an accurate journal; and,

WHEREAS, currently the Student Senate Secretary must either take handwritten notes or use a personal laptop; and,

WHEREAS, there has been a lengthy history of the purchase of office machines for use by student government officials, be they manual typewriters, electronic typewriters, or computer workstations; now; therefore be it

ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that $1167.45 from line item 1301 be allocated for the purchase of a Dell Inspiron 3800 Notebook Computer from dell.com; and, be it further

ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that $58.90 from line item 1301 be allocated for the purchase of a Netgear FA410 10/100 16 Bit Ethernet Adapter from outpost.com; and, be it further

ENACTED, the Treasurer shall expend reasonable funds to establish the notebook computer on the University Network within the confines of 201 Witherspoon Student Center.
