GOVERNMENT BILL 19

 

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO CHANGE THE POSITION OF SENATE PARLIAMENTARIAN TO AN APPOINTED ADVISORY OFFICER

 

 

Short Title: Parliamentarian Reform Act                                                                            (Senate)

BE IT ENACTED by the NC State University Student Senate that:

 

Section 1.        Student Body Statutes, §2-1.Rule 19 shall be amended by striking:

 

(d) Parliamentarian. The Senate shall elect from its membership a Parliamentarian, who shall answer queries regarding the procedures outlined in these Rules and Statutes and the Student Body Constitution, and raise points of order when the same are being violated.

 

and inserting:

 

(d) Parliamentarian. The President shall appoint from the membership of the Senate a Parliamentarian, who shall advise the President and individual Senators on matters of Senate Procedure, the Student Body Statues, and the Student Body Constitution. The Parliamentarian shall additionally be responsible for the coordination of Senate procedural education.  

 

Section 2.        This act shall take effect upon its adoption by the Senate.
