A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT TO CORRECT
SUBSTANTIVE ERRORS IN THE STUDENT SENATE STANDING RULES INTRODUCED BY
MISAPPLICATION OF SENATE AMENDMENTS DURING ENGROSSMENT

WHEREAS, on two occasions amendments made by the Student Senate to
acts of legislation amending the Student Senate Standing Rules failed to appear
in the final engrossed copy of the legislation; and,
WHEREAS, an expectation exists that amendments passed by the Student
Senate become part of the final version of an act of legislation; and,
WHEREAS, for the will of the Student Senate to be
served, these errors must be corrected; now, therefore be it
ENACTED, by
the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:
Section 1. Student Body Statutes §2-1.Rule 9(a), shall amended by striking
“The President shall also appoint one Senator to serve as Chair of each
standing committee. The Chair of each committee shall serve at the discretion
of the President; however,” After “(7) University Affairs.” so that §2-1.Rule
9(a) reads:
“(a) Appointment
of standing committees. The
President shall appoint each Senator to one of the seven standing committees,
as follows:
(1)
Academics;
(2)
Campus Life;
(3)
Diversity;
(4)
Finance;
(5)
Government Operations;
(6)
University Affairs;
(7)
Tuition and Fees.
No
Senator may be removed from a committee once appointed to it except by the
consent of the Senator to be so removed.”
Section
2. Student Body Statutes, §2-1, Senate Rule
9(c) shall be amended by striking:
“and
each absence shall be counted as a 1/2 absence”
Section 3. This act shall be effective immediately
upon its adoption.
