AN ACT TO REFINE THE SUSPENSION OF THE SENATE RULES

BE IT ENACTED by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:
Section 1. Student Body Statutes §2-1 Rule 20 (a) shall be amended by adding "Additionally rules protecting absentees or a basic right of the individual member cannot be suspended." so that the rule reads as follows:
(a) Suspension and amendment of these Rules. The Senate may, by the consent of a two-thirds (2/3) majority, temporarily suspend or permanently amend one or more of the Rules of the Senate. However, no Rule may be suspended or amended which specifies otherwise, or derives its authority from any other portion of the Student Body Constitution or Statutes, or federal, state, or local law.
Additionally rules protecting absentees or a basic right of the individual member cannot be suspended.Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately upon its adoption by the Senate.
