GOVERNMENT BILL 48

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT REQUIRING THE CONFIRMATION OF ALL SALARIED APPOINTED STUDENT GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS BY THE STUDENT SENATE.

WHEREAS, improving fiscal accountability is one of the major goals of the Office of the Student Body Treasurer and Student Government as a whole; now, therefore be it

ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

Section 1. Student Body Statutes §5-1 shall be amended by adding "(h) a ‘Salaried Student Government Official’ refers to any Student Government Official personally receiving funds under the Student Government Budget."

Section 2. Student Body Statutes §5-24 shall be inserted as follows:

§5-24. Confirmation of Salaried Student Government Officials.

Upon their appointment to positions budgeted a salary all student government officials designate shall be presented to the Senate for confirmation. The Treasurer shall dispense no funds to the aforementioned officials until notice of their conformation is received. The aforementioned officials date of service shall be recorded, for payroll purposes, as the date of their initial appointment.

Section 3. All appointed Student Government Officials not having been previously confirmed and currently receiving a salary shall be presented to the Senate. No additional funds shall be dispensed to the aforementioned officials prior to confirmation.

Section 4. This act shall take effect upon its enrollment.
