RESOLUTION 54

A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO ASSERT THAT TICKET DISTRIBUTION SHOULD BE REGULATED BY STUDENT GOVERNMENT

 

Short Title: Ticket Distribution Student Governance Act. (Public)

WHEREAS, the North Carolina State University Student Senate consistently adopted and modified student ticket distribution policies during the 1990’s; and,

WHEREAS, ticket policy has been established with varying levels of success by a multitude of methods for the last 18 months; and,

WHEREAS, Article II, Section One of the Student Body Constitution states "The supreme legislative power for the Student Body shall be vested in the Student Senate;" and,

WHEREAS, the North Carolina State University Student Senate is the sole assemble to proportional represent every student of the university; and,

WHEREAS, the North Carolina State University Student Senate is able to accept proposals and then deliberate upon them in a orderly and timely manner; and,

WHEREAS, the University administration’s concern into student ticket distribution is largely one of personal and property safety; and,

WHEREAS, in order for the Student Senate to establish effective ordinances on ticket distribution the university administration need not cede its authority to effect rules to protect the university; and,

WHEREAS, the North Carolina State University Student Government has the resources to provide personnel for time and labor intensive distribution methods; and,

WHEREAS, the North Carolina State University Student Government has vested and ongoing interest in perfecting a distribution policy satisfactory to the Student Body; now; therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the NC State University Student Senate declares that the appropriate form of student input into ticket distribution is through the established student legislative process.
