RESOLUTION 28

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE TRANSPORTATION FEE INCREASE

 

Short Title: Transportation Fee Increase. (Public)

Sponsored by: Senator DIXON.

WHEREAS, the NCSU Transportation Department is proposing a $6 increase, and,

WHEREAS, the Transportation Department has continuously provided reliable bus service for students on and off campus, and,

WHEREAS, the Transportation Fee solely funds the cost of the Wolfline and its maintenance, and,

WHEREAS, the Transportation Department was forced to renegotiate its current bus contract to cover rising fuel costs totaling $22,000 per year, and,

WHEREAS, overcrowding on several bus routes has resulted in students being passed by busses, causing them to be late to their classes, and,

WHEREAS, the fee increase will provide for one additional bus to alleviate overcrowding, and,

WHEREAS, the Transportation Department has increased the Wolfline hours of service by 50% since 1995, and,

WHEREAS, the Transportation Department has increased the fee in accordance to and not more than the increase in services since 1995, and,

WHEREAS, a $6 fee increase will maintain current service; now; therefore be it,

RESOLVED, that the Students of North Carolina State University support a transportation fee increase of $6 for the 2001-2002 academic school year.
