GOVERNMENT BILL 62

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO PREVENT VOTER FRAUD AND USE OF UNDUE INFLUENCE IN THE ELECTION PROCESS.

Short Title: Voter Fraud Prevention Act. (Public)

WHEREAS, concerns have arisen that ambiguities in the Student Body Statutes allow for the occurrence of widespread voter fraud; and,

WHEREAS, certain members of the Student Senate have been made aware of plans to effect widespread voter fraud by methods not expressly disallowed by the Student Body Statutes; and,

WHEREAS, in order to maintain the legitimacy of a democratic form of government, rules must be established to prevent voter fraud; now, therefore be it

ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

Section 1. Student Body Statutes §7-5.1, shall be amended by adding "(i) Candidates and their staffs shall not expend any funds or aid in any effort to exert undue influence over the voting process."

Section 2. Student Body Statutes shall be amended by inserting:

"§7-5.5 Unofficial Polling Stations

No campaign shall establish or effectively establish a polling station. This includes but is not limited to providing computer services for the purpose of voting, without the express unsolicited request for such service by the voter."

Section 3. This act shall be effective upon its enrollment.
