GOVERNMENT BILL 75

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO AMEND THE STUDENT BODY CONSTITUTION TO PROVIDE IRREFUTABLE CLARITY REGARDING APPORTIONMENT AND PROVIDE EQUAL RIGHTS OF REPRESENTATION TO ALL ENFRANCHISED STUDENTS OF NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY

 

Short Title: Apportionment Rights Amendment. (Public)

BE IT ENACTED by the NC State University Student Senate that:

Section 1. Article II of the Student Body Constitution, Section 3 shall be struck and

the following inserted:

"SECTION THREE -- STUDENT SENATE APPORTIONMENT Senators shall be apportioned among the several Colleges and Recognized Programs according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of students in each College or Recognized Programs, excluding students not assessed any portion of the Student Government Fee. The Senate shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this Section. "

Section 2. For the purposes of the Ballot, per SBS §7-5.4, the full text of this

amendment shall be considered the summary of the referendum.

Section 3. Upon enrollment this act shall be presented to the Student Body in the

form of a referendum in the Spring 2002 General Election. This act shall become effective upon approval of two-thirds of those students voting in the said referendum.
