A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

An act to apportion the Student Senate by strict FTE calculations

Short Title: FTE Apportionment Act (Public)

BE IT ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

Section 1. Student Body Statutes §2-3.4. Recognized Schools and Colleges. shall be struck:

§2-3.4. Recognized Schools and Colleges.
For the purposes of this Article, the recognized Schools and Colleges of the University shall be:

      1. the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS);
      2. the School of Design;
      3. the College of Education and Psychology;
      4. the College of Engineering;
      5. the College of Natural Resources;
      6. the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS);
      7. the College of Management;
      8. the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (PAMS);
      9. the College of Textiles;
      10. the Graduate School;
      11. the College of Veterinary Medicine;
      12. the First-Year College; and
      13. Life-Long Education students.

and the following shall be inserted:

§2-3.4. Recognized Schools and Colleges.
For the purposes of this Article, the recognized Schools and Colleges of the University shall be:

      3. the College of Education;
      4. the College of Engineering;
      5. the College of Natural Resources;
      6. the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS);
      7. the College of Management;
      8. the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (PAMS);
      9. the College of Textiles;
      10. the Graduate School;
      11. the College of Veterinary Medicine;
      12. the First-Year College; and
      13. Life-Long Education students.

Section 2. Student Body Statutes §2-3.5. Current apportionment. shall be struck:

"§2-3.5. Current apportionment.
Each School and College, and class within the School or College, shall be represented by the following number of Senators:

      1. freshmen from all Schools and Colleges – eleven (11);
      2. CALS sophomores – two (2);
      3. CALS juniors – three (3);
      4. CALS seniors – three (3);
      5. Design – one (1);
      6. Education and Psychology – two (2);
      7. Engineering sophomores – four (4);
      8. Engineering juniors – four (4);
      9. Engineering seniors – four (4);
      10. Natural Resources – two (2);
      11. CHASS sophomores – three (3);
      12. CHASS juniors – two (2);
      13. CHASS seniors – two (2);
      14. Management sophomores – two (2);
      15. Management juniors – two (2);
      16. Management seniors – two (2);
      17. PAMS – two (2);
      18. Textiles – two (2);
      19. Graduate – five (5);
      20. Veterinary Medicine – one (1);
      21. First-Year – two (2); and
      22. Life-long Education – three (3)."

and the following shall be inserted:

"§2-3.5. Current apportionment.
Each School and College, and class within the School or College, shall be represented by the following number of Senators:

      4. CALS seniors – three (3);

      17. Graduate – ten (10);
      18. Veterinary Medicine – one (1);
      19. First-Year – two (2); and
      20. Life-long Education – three (3)."

Section 3. Student Body Statutes §2-3.7. Appointment by the Appointments Commission. shall be struck:

§2-3.7. Appointment by the Appointments Commission.

The Senate shall form a Fall Appointments Commission from its membership, which shall select freshmen and first-year graduate students for positions in the Senate. Senators to be appointed by the commission include:

      1. all Senators representing the freshman class; and
      2. one (1) Senator representing the Graduate School.

and the following shall be inserted:

§2-3.7. Appointment by the Appointments Commission.

The Senate shall form a Fall Appointments Commission from its membership, which shall select freshmen and first-year graduate students for positions in the Senate. Senators to be appointed by the commission include:

      1. all Senators representing the freshman class; and
      2. three (3) Senators representing the Graduate School.

Section 4. This act shall take effect upon enrollment, in accordance with SBS §2-3.3. Effective Date of Reapportionment.
