RESOLUTION 79

A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO EXPRESS CONCERNS REGARDING THE PROPOSED CHANGES TO UNIVERSITY

PARKING POLICY

 

 

WHEREAS, the North Carolina State University Department of Transportation states in

its Vision Statement that; "Transportation will provide exceptional and professional services through challenging and empowering our staff to continuously improve systems, processes, and procedures," and,

WHEREAS, the North Carolina State University Department of Transportation states as

part of its Mission Statement: "Managing a parking system that affords reasonable convenience and access for employees, students, visitors, and service providers," and,

WHEREAS, the Dan Allen Parking Deck provides safe and convenient evening access

to Main Campus including a number of lecture halls, residence locations, and the D.H. Hill Library, and,

WHEREAS, the proposed use of the Varsity Parking Lot for resident use will present a

number of specific safety concerns and challenges, and,

WHEREAS, the North Carolina State University Department of Transportation is

facing numerous serious challenges including increasing demand for parking with decreasing supply, and the potential loss of parking citation revenues due to a recent court decision, therefore be it,

RESOLVED, that the North Carolina State University Student Senate urges the North

Carolina State University Department of Transportation not to extend parking enforcement in the Dan Allen Parking Deck past 5 p.m. on weekdays, and be it further,

RESOLVED, that the North Carolina State University Student Senate encourages the

North Carolina State University Department of Transportation to work closely with Campus Police in order to address the additional safety challenges presented by the proposed changes, and be it further,

 

 

RESOLVED, that the North Carolina State University Student Senate commends the

hard work, cooperation, and innovation on the North Carolina State University Department of Transportation in it's endeavors to continue to provide exceptional services to the University Community in the face of numerous difficult challenges and offers its continuing support and cooperation to the Department.

I hereby certify that this Resolution was read twice, and adopted by consent in the

North Carolina State University Student Senate, this 20th day of March, 2002.
