GOVERNMENT BILL 87

 

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO REMOVE THE OFFICE OF SENIOR CLASS VICE PRESIDENT FROM CHAPTER 7 ELECTION STATUES

Short Title: Removal of the Election of Senior Class Vice President. (Public)

Sponsored by: Senator OVERCASH.

First Reading: March 20, 2002. Version Date: March 24, 2002.

Referred to: Government Operations.

BE IT ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

Section 1. Student Body Statutes §7-1.2 Spring General Election, part (e)
shall be struck:

(e) the election of a Senior Class President and Vice-President;

And the following inserted:

(e) the election of a Senior Class President

Section 2. Student Body Statutes §7-1.14 Qualifications for Senior Class
President and Vice-President shall be struck:

§7-1.14 Qualifications for Senior Class President and Vice-President
Candidates for Senior Class President and Vice-President shall be required
to have projected Senior status for the next academic year.

And the following inserted:

§7-1.14 Qualifications for Senior Class President

Candidates for Senior Class President shall be required to have projected
Senior status for the next academic year. In addition, candidates must meet with the Director of Constituency Programs of the NC State Alumni Association prior to the last day of filing. To be considered qualified, the candidate must furnish the Commission with written notice from The Director of Constituency Programs that such a meeting has occurred with his or her intent-to-run form.


Section 3. Strike "Senior Class Vice-President from page 1 of the Elections Packet.

Section 4. This act shall be effective April 15, 2002, provided that it is enrolled.
