RESOLUTION 61

A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

An act to honor the service of Doctor C. Frank abrams jr.

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr. has been associated with North Carolina State University for over forty years; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr. held the position of Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Chief of Staff, office of the Provost; among other positions in the office of the Provost he has held since 1994; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr. joined the faculty of North Carolina State University in the department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering in 1972; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr. received his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy in Biological and Agricultural engineering from North Carolina State University in 1966, 1969, and 1971 respectively; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr. served as the Chair of the Faculty Senate in the 1990-1991 session; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr., as Senior Vice Provost, was responsible for coordination of the Provost’s staff, administrated reappointment, promotion and tenure, and supported and facilitated faculty governance; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr., as Senior Vice Provost, was the driving force behind the administration compromise that brought the Holy Days Act of the 2000-2001 session of the Student Senate to a successful conclusion; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr., as Senior Vice Provost, was integral in redesigning the tenure review process working in concert with former Provost Kermit Hall; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr., as Senior Vice Provost, was the driving force behind the creation of the University Wide Evaluation of Instruction implement working in concert with the Student Senate; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr. was always a willing resource for students and faculty alike and provided advice and guidance on occasions too numerous to list; and,

WHEREAS,   Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr. provided vital stability during numerous periods of transition of leadership in the Provost’s office, to such a degree that leading Student Government officials on a regular basis went directly to Senior Vice Provost Abrams instead of to the interim Provost; now, therefore be it,

RESOLVED,  that the North Carolina State University Student Senate profoundly thanks Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr. for his countless years of dedication and service to North Carolina State University and recognizes that Dr. C. Frank Abrams Jr. fully embodies the traditions and values that have been espoused by North Carolina State University administrators for over a century.

I hereby certify that this resolution was read twice and adopted by acclamation in the North Carolina State University Student Senate, this 16^th day of January 2003.
