SENATE RESOLUTION 55

 

A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO IMPEACH Senator Danielle D’Haene on Charges of Excessive Accumulated Absences

 

Short Title: D’Haene Impeachment                                                                                       (Senate)

WHEREAS,   Danielle D’Haene, a student of North Carolina State University, became a Student Senator, representing the College of Management, on April 17th 2002; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the Student Body Statutes, Chapter 2, Article 1, Rule 2e, provides that the Student Senate Secretary shall maintain records of the absences of Student Senators from meetings of the Student Senate; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the Student Body Statutes, Chapter 2, Article 1, Rule 2e, provides that absences from formal meetings of Senate committees shall be treated as one-half (1/2) a Senate absence; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the Student Body Statutes, Chapter 2, Article 1, Rule 2e, provides that absences from the Student Government Retreat shall be treated as one (1) Senate absence; and,

 

WHEREAS,   as of November 17th 2002, Senator D’Haene has missed a total of fourteen (15) Senate roll calls or committee meetings amounting to seven and a half (7.5) absences in addition to one (1) absence for the Student Senate Retreat, totaling eight and a half (8.5) absences; and,

 

WHEREAS,   should the Senate find Senator D’Haene guilty of these allegations at trial, according to the procedures set out in the Student Body Statutes, Chapter 2, Article 2, the Senator shall be immediately removed from office, and prohibited from serving in a Student Government Office for the remainder of the 2002-2003 academic year, and for the 2003-2004 academic year; now, therefore be it

 


RESOLVED,  that the North Carolina State University Student Senate hereby impeaches Senator Danielle D’Haene on the charge of accumulated absences in excess of a reasonable quantity, given the specifications:

(i)                  Senator D’Haene missed six (6) Student Senate meetings, namely those on August 21st 2002, September 4th 2002, September 18th 2002, October 2nd 2002, October 23rd 2002, and November 6th 2002;

(ii)                Senator D’Haene missed three (3) University Affairs Committee meetings, namely those on October 9th 2002, October 30th 2002, and November 13th 2002;

(iii)               Senator D’Haene missed the Student Senate Retreat; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED,  that the North Carolina State University Student Senate establishes _____ at 7:30pm, as the date for the impeachment trial for Senator D’Haene.

 

We, the undersigned, hereby introduce this resolution into the North Carolina State University Student Senate, this 18th day of November 2002.
