WHEREAS, over 20 years ago, the first Minority Career Fair was held
at
WHEREAS, the annual Minority Career Fair has grown to
become the largest career fair at the University, attracting well over 100
companies; and,
WHEREAS, the Minority Career Fair is supported by capital and
personnel from the student fee supported Union Activities Board and
WHEREAS, the name “Minority Career Fair” is source of considerable
confusion to the student body and university community; and,
WHEREAS, statements in the nature of “open to all students” do not
fully address a student’s concerns regarding participation in practice; and,
WHEREAS, renaming the Minority Career Fair need not affect its
worthwhile financial support of cultural and minority programming; and,
WHEREAS, a broadly inviting name can only serve to increase
attendance, and thereby the value to the attending companies and the profits of
the sponsors; now, therefore be it
