RESOLUTION 12
A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT CALLING ON NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY TO REVISE ITS NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY STATEMENT TO CLARIFY THE UNIVERSITY’S POLICY REGARDING DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF SEXUAL ORIENTATION
WHEREAS, the current University policy on non-discrimination is unclear regarding
the official stance regarding discrimination based on sexual orientation; and,
WHEREAS, to maintain an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding it is vital to
have clear and concise statement regarding non-discrimination policies; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the North Carolina State University Student Senate calls upon the
University to revise its public statement on non-discrimination to read as follows:
It is the policy of the State of North Carolina to provide
equality of opportunity in education and employment for all students
and employees. Accordingly, the university does not practice or condone unlawful discrimination in any form against students, employees or applicants on the grounds of race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or sexual orientation.
I hereby certify that this resolution was read twice and adopted by acclamation in the North Carolina State University Student Senate, this 6th day of September 2002.
