RESOLUTION 91
A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED
An act Calling FOR freshman progress report distribution one week prior to the drop date for poor performing students
WHEREAS, an overwhelming number of freshmen students in large, predominantly-freshman classes are finding difficulty in maintaining suitable grades; and,
WHEREAS, the North Carolina State University Academic Policies and Regulations REG02.20.9 states, “Consistent with the 6 week course drop policy, teachers are strongly urged to provide substantive evaluative feedback to students before the end of the drop period”; and,
WHEREAS, freshman students would be able to drop/change credits in classes if appropriately and timely informed of their statuses; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the North Carolina State University Student Senate supports the general policy that professors of classes filled with a majority of freshman students be required to present at least one progress report, with at least one component of the overall grade, one week prior to the drop date for freshman with current grades of D or below.
I hereby certify that this resolution was read twice and adopted in the North Carolina State University Student Senate, this 16th day of April 2004.
