A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED
An act To Call on the city of raleigh to immediately repeal the nuisance party ordanance

WHEREAS, on July 18, 2000 the Raleigh City Council passed the Nuisance Party Ordinance; and,
WHEREAS, the vague language and purpose of the ordinance is both unethical, unconstitutional, and a menace to the public good; and,
WHEREAS, the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that, ÒNo one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exileÓ; and,
WHEREAS, the City of RaleighÕs implementation of the Nuisance Party Ordinance is a de facto violation of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and a de jure violation of the principle of comity; and,
WHEREAS, the Nuisance Party Ordinance was originally drafted to deal specifically with one large annual event, is now being applied widely and without due consideration by the City Council; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the North Carolina State University Student Senate strongly urges the City of Raleigh City Council to immediately and permanently repeal the Nuisance Party Ordinance.
