RESOLUTION 55

 

A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO SUPPORT A SEVEN DOLLAR FEE INCREASE FOR THE NCSU PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND RECREATIONAL SPORTS PROGRAM

 

WHEREAS,   Article IX, Section 9 of the N.C. Constitution states, “The General Assembly shall provide that the benefits of The University of North Carolina and other public institutions of higher education, as far as practicable, be extended to the people of the State free of expense;” and,

 

WHEREAS,   the UNC Board of Governors has extended “free as far as practicable” to all charges exacted by the state's 16 public universities, including student fees; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the NCSU Physical Education and Recreational Sports Program unit is in need of a seven dollar student fee increase; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED,  that the North Carolina State University Student Senate supports adoption of a seven dollar student fee increase for the NCSU Physical Education and Recreational Sports Program; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED,  that the Student Senate recommends that the student fee increase not be used to fund full time employees.

 

 

I hereby certify that this resolution was read twice and adopted in the North Carolina State University Student Senate. I further certify that the Student Senate duly overrode the veto of this resolution, this 23rd day of October 2003.
