RESOLUTION 47
A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED
An Act In Memoriam of September 11th 2001
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001 at 8:46 AM (EDT) American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of The World Trade Center killing all 92 passengers on board; and,
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001 at 9:03 AM (EDT) United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower of The World Trade Center killing all 65 passengers on board; and,
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001 at 9:38 AM (EDT) American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into The Pentagon killing all 64 passengers on board and killing 125 Service Members and employees in The Pentagon; and,
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001 after 9:58 AM (EDT) United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in a rural area southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania killing all 45 passengers on board; and,
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001 at 10:05 AM (EDT) the South Tower of The World Trade Center collapsed, and on September 11, 2001 at 10:28 AM (EDT) the North Tower of The World Trade Center collapsed, and on September 11, 2001 at 4:10 PM (EDT) Building 7 of The World Trade Center collapsed, all of which presumably killed 2,666 men, women, and children; and,
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001 all of these acts were perpetrated by terrorist against the people of The United States of America and affected over 90 countries around the world; now, therefore be it,
RESOLVED, that this day the North Carolina State University Student Senate reflects on that fateful day which forever changed the history and future of the world; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that from this day forward that the North Carolina State University Student Senate requests that each September 11 at 8:46 AM a moment of silence be observed and on that day the Bell Tower shine red to cause all to pause and reflect.
I hereby certify that this resolution was read and adopted by acclamation in the North Carolina State University Student Senate, this 12th day of September 2003.
