A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

An act to provide a sound and sustaible tuition plan

 

Short Title: Sound Tuition Policy Act                                                                                      (Public)

WHEREAS,   the North Carolina State University Student Senate recognizes the unprecedented financial crisis facing the State of North Carolina and subsequently North Carolina State University; and,

 

WHEREAS,   although the majority of the financial burden of higher education must fall upon the state, a portion of this responsibility must be passed on to the students; and,

 

WHEREAS,   additional funds are needed for both faculty salaries and need based financial aid to ensure the ability of North Carolina State University to attract the best faculty and students; now, therefore be it,

 

RESOLVED,  that the North Carolina State University Student Senate calls on the NCSU Board of Trustees to request a campus-initiated tuition increase in the amount of $150 per annum for the express purpose of increasing need-based financial aid and supporting faculty retention.
