An act to revise the structure and duties of the student body department of the treasury

BE ITENACTED, by
the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:
Section
1. Student Body Statutes
§5-1.5(e) shall be amended by striking:
e. the Comptroller or his or her
designee shall keep a permanent electronic record of which student
organizations have and have not submitted allocations receipts per SBS §5-2.15;
Section
2. Student Body
Statutes §5-3.6 shall be amended by inserting:
d. Conduct an audit on the
Student Government finances managed by the Department for the previous fiscal
year, and submit the results of this audit to the Student Senate on or before
the 1st Senate meeting of the Spring semester.
Section
3. Student Body Statutes §5-3 shall be
amended by inserting:
§5-3.10. Associate Treasurer on
Appropriations
The Associate Treasurer on Appropriations shall be considered a Student
Government Official and shall:
a. Advise the Treasurer on all matters
concerning the appropriations process;
b. Verify with the SORC office the eligibility
of Student Organizations that apply for student body funds;
c. Identify
student organizations that have not turned in receipts from previous
appropriations and notify these groups of their present eligibility;
d. Actively
educate members of the Student Senate on the Appropriations process so that
they are able to help student organizations write appropriations requests;
e. Review and revise as needed the
appropriations packet before submitting the packet to the Permanent Committee
on Appropriations for approval;
f. Publicize the appropriations process; and,
g. Provide such assistance to the Permanent
Committee on Appropriations, as the Committee deems necessary.
§5-3.11. Appointment of the Associate
Treasurer on Appropriations
The Treasurer
shall appoint an Associate Treasurer on Appropriations no later than the fifth
class day of the fall semester, subject to the majority confirmation of the
Senate. There shall be no
qualifications for the Associate Treasurer on Appropriations beyond those of a
Student Government Official.

4. This act shall be effective upon its
enrollment.
