RESOLUTION 42

A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

A MEMORIAM OF THE TRAGEDY THAT OCCURRED AT THE SEPTEMBER 4^TH FOOTBALL GAME

WHEREAS, On September 4th 2004, at approximately 6PM shots pierced the air at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, neighboring NC State University’s Carter Finley Stadium; and,  

WHEREAS, this occurred at the same time as the kickoff for the North Carolina State versus University Richmond football game; and,  

WHEREAS, this violence resulted in the deaths of Kevin M. McCann and Marine 2nd Lt. Brett Johnson Harman who, while not NC State students, were Wolfpack fans; and,  

WHEREAS, this tragic murder has disturbed the peaceful tranquility that all members of the community associate with tailgating and pre-football game festivities; now, therefore be it,  

RESOLVED, That this day the North Carolina State University Student Senate deplores senseless violence in all activities, especially those related in any form to the University; and, be it further  

RESOLVED, That this day the North Carolina State University Student Senate expresses its deepest sorrow, anger, regret, and sympathy over what occurred on the 4^th of September, and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to both of the victims families.

I hereby certify that this resolution was read twice and adopted in the North Carolina State University Student Senate, this 8^th day of September 2004.
