GOVERNMENT BILL  31

 

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

An act to limit the term of large-role officers to two consecutive academic years

 

Short Title: Term Limitation Act                                                                                             (Public)

WHEREAS, it is common procedure for officers elected democratically to serve a limited

                      number of terms, yet the North Carolina State Student Body Statutes currently have

                      no rule regarding the number of terms per major office within Student

                     Government; and,

 

WHEREAS, Student Government officers that serve longer than two consecutive terms have the

                      possibility to become stagnant, power-seeking, or repulsive to the student body and

                      the organized government; now, therefore

 

BE IT ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

 

Section 1.        Student Body Statutes 7-1 shall be amended by inserting the rule:

 

                        A candidate may not run for this office after serving two consecutive terms in this role.

 

                        To 7-1.12., 7-1.13., 7-1.14., 7-1.15., and 7-1.17..

 

Section 2.        This act shall be effective upon its enrollment.
