WHEREAS, the WebAssign
program was developed by faculty at NC State University in 1997 as an
innovative educational product for students to receive automatic feedback from
homework assignments; and,
WHEREAS, WebAssign has remained a product without user fees for the students of
NC State University through the education technology funding of student fees,
allowing creative and flexible use by the faculty; and,
WHEREAS, WebAssign originally
began as a student-friendly product, especially for NC State’s campus, but now
is becoming a money-making scheme for a new corporation; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the North Carolina
State University Student Senate highly opposes any additional charge for
WebAssign use by the students of NC State University.
