WHEREAS, North Carolina State University
is home to over 300 active registered student organizations; and,
WHEREAS, second to a student’s academic
responsibilities, student organizations play a large role in forming a well
rounded and enjoyable college experience for thousands of NCSU students; and,
WHEREAS, the Student Organization Resource Center
(SORC) provides numerous services benefiting those student organizations from
its office conveniently located within Talley Student Center; and,
WHEREAS, it has been identified that
further services are desired by many student organizations on campus,
especially after the office began renting programming equipment out at nominal
costs, which became a highly utilized, successful and appreciated service; and,
WHEREAS, additional funding is required to
create and expand services such as subsidized copying, additional staff, staple
guns, sandwich boards, a projector, paper cutters, etc. though a jointly funded
project between Student Senate, the Union Activities Board and the
Inter-Residence Council; and,
WHEREAS, the Student Senate feels that
these new services will have a direct positive impact on the Student Body and
help encourage student involvement so; now, therefore be it
ENACTED, by
the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:
Section
1. Funds in the amount of $2,500.00 shall be
allocated from the Student Government General Trust and set aside to be spent
for the planned improvements to the Student Organization Resource Center.
Section
2. This act shall be effective upon its
enrollment.
