This bill would establish term limits for Student Senators. A Student Senator would not be permitted to serve as a Senator for more than 2 consecutive terms.

SENATE BILL 84

 

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

An act TO ESTABLISH TERM LIMITS FOR STUDENT SENATORS

 

Short Title: Term Limits Act   (Senate)

WHEREAS,   Student Senators serve the student body at North Carolina State University and their respective colleges; and,

 

WHEREAS,  Serving as a Student Senator is an honor and should be taken seriously and with one’s full attention and energy; and,

 

WHEREAS,   Student Senators that serve longer than two consecutive terms have the possibility to become stagnant, power-seeking, or annoying to the student body and the Senate as a whole; now, therefore be it

 

ENACTED,            by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

 

Section 1.        Student Body Statutes 2-3 shall be amended by inserting the following rule:

 

                        §2-3.12 Senator Term Limits

 

                        Senators shall not be permitted to serve more than 2 consecutive terms in the North Carolina State Student Senate

 

Section 2.        This act shall be effective at the end of the 85th Session.
