A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED
An act TO NO LONGER USE WEBASSIGN FOR STUDENT ASSESSMENT.

WHEREAS, students that want to maintain a high level of
educational success must do work assigned to them by Professors; and,
WHEREAS, having to pay for the required mechanism used
to aid and further educational success is not in the best interest of the
students at North Carolina State; and,
WHEREAS, WebAssign cards cost $9.95 per course, with a
maximum charge of $24.95 for 3 or more courses; and,
WHEREAS, faculty are not being charged for the use of
the WebAssign service for their classes; and,
WHEREAS, students have concerns about the new charges,
as has been indicated by several articles and editorials in Technician and
letters to university administrators and others; and,
WHEREAS, North Carolina State should begin to improve
and further develop the more friendly and free WebCT system; and,
WHEREAS, students should not be required to pay for the use of any
material that aids in the assessment of a student; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, by
the North Carolina State University Student Senate recommend to the Provost
that within the next two years North Carolina State University no longer use
WebAssign as a measure of student assessment; and,
RESOLVED, the Student Senate recommends to the Provost
that the University fully develop WebCT making it the only and free way as a
way to measure student assessment.
