GOVERNMENT BILL 47

 

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

An act TO ALLOW THE DISBURSEMENT OF BUDGETED FUNDS TO ACTING STUDENT GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

WHEREAS,   the current Student Body Statutes do not allow the payment of Student Government Officials fulfilling a given position's duties solely in an acting capacity; and,

 

WHEREAS,   this prohibition is detrimental to ensuring the best possible candidate fills certain jobs, particularly those requiring technical expertise;

 

ENACTED,    by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

 

Section 1.        Statutory Authority.  This bill is adopted pursuant to the provisions of Article II, Sections 5(d) and 5(e) of the Student Body Constitution, and Chapter 2, Rule 17(b)(3) of the Student Body Statutes.

 

Section 2.        Student Body Statutes §5-1.11 ("Stipend Disbursement") shall be amended by inserting the following:

 

                        (c) Officials appointed to a given position solely on an acting basis pursuant to SBS §3-2.7 may be disbursed a stipend budgeted for a given position, upon approval by both the appointing official and the Senate Standing Committee on Finance.

 

Section 3.        This act shall be effective upon its enrollment.
