A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO IMPEACH SENATOR BANTON ON THE CHARGE OF NEGLECT OF DUTY DUE TO EXCESSIVE ABSENCES

WHEREAS, Craig Banton, a student of North Carolina State University, became a Student Senator representing CALS in April of 2006; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Student Body Statutes, Chapter 2, Article 1, Rule 2f, provides that the Student Senate Standing Committee on Government Operations shall review the absences of a Student Senator should the Senator accumulate four (4) absences; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Student Body Statutes, Chapter 2, Article 1, Rule 2e, provides that absences from formal meetings of Senate committees shall be treated as one-half (1/2) a Senate absence; and,

 

WHEREAS, Everyone should be free to learn in an environment where they feel comfortable; and,

 

WHEREAS, as of November, 20, 2006 Senator Banton has missed a total of thirteen (13) Senate roll calls or committee meetings, totaling six and half (6.5) total absences; and,

 

WHEREAS, in a hearing conducted pursuant to rule on November 20, 2006, the Senate Standing Committee on Government Operations found the absences of Senator Banton excessive and recommended impeachment; now; therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the North Carolina State University Student Senate hereby impeaches Senator Banton on the charge of neglect of duty, as defined and authorized by sections 25 and 9(d) of Chapter 2, Article 2 of the Student Body Statutes; given the specifications:

1.      Senator Banton missed the closing roll call for the Student Senate meeting on April 19, 2006;

2.      Senator Banton missed the opening roll call for the Student Senate meeting on September 6, 2006;

3.      Senator Banton missed the closing roll call for the Student Senate meeting on September 6, 2006;

4.      Senator Banton missed the opening roll call for the Student Senate meeting on September 20, 2006;

5.      Senator Banton missed the closing roll call for the Student Senate meeting on September 20, 2006;

6.      Senator Banton missed the opening roll call for the Student Senate meeting on October 4, 2006;

7.      Senator Banton missed the closing roll call for the Student Senate meeting on October 4, 2006;

8.      Senator Banton missed the opening roll call for the Student Senate meeting on October 18, 2006;

9.      Senator Banton missed the closing roll call for the Student Senate meeting on October 18, 2006;

10.  Senator Banton missed the opening roll call for the Student Senate meeting on October 22, 2006;

11.  Senator Banton missed the closing roll call for the Student Senate meeting on October 22, 2006;

12.  Senator Banton missed the opening roll call for the Student Senate meeting on November 15, 2006;

13.  Senator Banton missed the closing roll call for the Student Senate meeting on November 15, 2006;

 

 

I hereby introduce the above resolution for reading in the NCSU Student Senate, pursuant to Student Body Statues §2-2.9(d) and on order of the Committee on Government Operations, this 27th day of November 2006.
