A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

An act to Support Design and Construction of a Student Health Center Addition

Short Title: The Student Health Center Addition Act                                                               (Public)

Sponsored by: Senators Mickey (corresponding), Rogers, Gluck, Webb, Davis and Cunningham

WHEREAS, a Preliminary Facility Program study was conducted in 2005-2006 by RGG Architects and concluded:  “With a growing student body, and the growth of programs and services within Student Health, additional space is needed.” and,

 

WHEREAS, the student enrollment of NC State University was 26,079 in 1999 when the Student Health Center opened, was 31,130 for fall semester 2006, and is projected to reach 36,000 by the year 2010; and,

 

WHEREAS, an addition to the Student Health Center, for the long-term, is in the students’ best interest; be it

 

RESOLVED,  that the NC State Student Senate supports the design and construction of a Student Health Center addition; and be it further

 

RESOLVED, that we support the “rollover” of the current debt service fee considering its early retirement; and be it further

 

RESOLVED, we appreciate the willingness of Jerry Barker, Director of the Student Health Center, to openly seek input on this issue from Student Government and other student groups.
