A BILL TO BE ENTILED AN ACT TO ESTABLISH NEEDED REVIEW IN STUDENT GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS

WHEREAS, currently Student Government has several outstanding contracts that lack proper review; and,

 

WHEREAS, contracts can bind Student Governments for years to come; and,

 

WHEREAS, there is a call for a more accountably process and transparent process in Student Government expenditures; now therefore be it,

 

ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

 

Section 1.  Article 1 of the Chapter 5 Student Body Statutes shall be amended and creation of a new ¤5-1.4.b the following inserted:

 

¤5-1.4.b Contract Review

(a)   Contracts must be submitted   to University Student Legal for review and comment

(b)  Student Body Officers must be given the opportunity to review and comment on all contracts

(c)   The authorization of the Finance Committee and the Student Body Treasurer  is the only authorization required, and can be granted even if advice from (a) or (b) above has not been returned in a timely fashion.

Section 2.  This act shall be effective upon enrollment.
