A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

an act to AMEND THE FALL ELECTION TIMELINE

 

Short Title:  Fall Election Timeline Act                                                                                (Public)

WHEREAS, a major aim of the 87th Session of Student Senate is efficiency; and,

 

WHEREAS, first-year Senators have proven themselves to be important contributors to the Student Senate and should be involved in the governing process sooner in the school year than is currently provided; now, therefore, be it,

 

ENACTED,   by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

 

Section 1.        Student Body Statutes ¤7-1.5 ("Fall General Election Timeline") shall be amended by striking the existing subparts and substituting as follows:

 

¤7-1.5. Fall General Election Timeline.

(a)  Books open:  At least 10 7 days prior to the All Candidates Meeting.

(b) Books close:  1 day prior to the All Candidates Meeting.

(c) All Candidates Meeting:  Third Second Class Wednesday of the Fall Semester.

(d) General Elections:  Second Monday and Tuesday following the All-Candidates Meeting.

(e) Run-Off Elections:  Monday and Tuesday one week after the General Elections.

 

Section 2.        This act shall be effective upon its enrollment, to be implemented for the Fall 2007 General Election.
