WHEREAS, the Student
Body Statutes ¤7-5.5 ("Ballot Order and Numbering") requires
that "[e]ach referendum shall be assigned a
proposition number by the Elections Commission, unless such a number was
already assigned in the document ordering the referendum"; and,
WHEREAS, such a
numbering system began usage in the 2007 Spring General Election, and should be
codified in the statutes for future reference; now, therefore, be it,
ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:
Section 1. Student Body Statutes ¤7-5.5 ("Ballot Order and Numbering") shall be amended as follows:
¤7-5.5. Ballot Order and Numbering.
All referenda shall be placed
on the ballot in descending order of date and time of validation. Each referendum shall be assigned a
proposition number by the Elections Commission, unless such a number was
already assigned in the document ordering the referendum.
Referendum numbering shall
be of the form [iyyn+] as specified:

- Union Activities Board Constitution

- reserved for future use

- all other binding referenda (e.g. for College Councils)

- yy shall be the two-digit year of the election wherein the
referendum appears on the ballot
- n+ shall be an incremented value that indicates the number of
referenda of this type since the numbering system was adopted in the Spring
2007 General Election
EXAMPLE:
A
referendum was held amending the Student Centers Constitution in the Spring
2007 General Election. Its number
was 2071. If another referendum is
held in the Spring 2008 General Election also amending the Student Centers
Constitution, its number would be 2082.
Section 2. This act shall be effective upon its enrollment.
