A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO ESTABLISH NEEDED REVIEW IN STUDENT GOVERNMENT CONTRACTSELIMINATE THE REQUIREMENT FOR A CONTINGENCY FUND

WHEREAS, currently Student Government requires a $8,000 surplus beyond the University surplus; and,

 

WHEREAS, every fee department is required to be as lean as possible with the creation of the increase cap; and,

 

WHEREAS, to be in line with the business office recommendation and be as fiscally possible; now therefore be it,

 

ENACTED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

 

Section 1.  Article 1 of the Chapter 5 Student Body Statutes shall be amended and creation of a new ¤5-1.25 the following inserted:

 

¤5-1.25. General Trust.

Any monies in the Student Body Funds beyond those required to meet the commitments of the Student Government Budget shall be considered unencumbered and part of the General Trust. The General Trust shall be inclusive of monies in three distinct categories:

(a) the University mandated reserve balance;

(b) a contingency fund of $8,000; and

(c) surplus funds not in the above categories the Senate shall allocate funds in the budget as necessary to maintain the mandated reserve.

 

Section 2.  This act shall be effective upon enrollment.
