all 17 institutions; and,
WHEREAS, the General Assembly is a sixty-eight
member unit of the UNC ASG consisting of four members from each of the 17
member institutions which serves as an important forum in the discussion and

to for a temporary disintegration of the
General Assembly; and,
WHEREAS, the
Student Body President has also continually voted for the Council of Student
Body Presidents to move into closed
session; now, therefore be it,
RESOLVED, that of the NC State Student Senate recognizes that the UNC ASG is an institution of great importance for the resolution and advocacy of student issues within the UNC System and must therefore become unified behind one common goal: the betterment of the Student Body of the UNC System; therefore, be it further,
RESOLVED, that the Senate opposes any attempt to dissolve the General Assembly of the UNC ASG, feeling that such an action would be contrary to the spirit of Section §1-5.2 of the Student Body Statutes promoting student involvement. As such, any person who votes or advocates to the contrary does not represent the ideals of the Senate, nor the best interests of the 31,802 students the Senate represents; and, therefore be it further
RESOLVED, that while the Senate does not know the intent behind the Council of Student Body Presidents moving into closed session, the Senate feels that it should be a rare occurrence and that any such vote should be in line with North Carolina General Statutes §143-318.11 and Student Body Statutes §1-1.6. Therefore, any vote in the contrary does not represent the preferred practices of the Senate, nor the best interests of the 31,802 students the Senate represents. Furthermore, it is a violation of state law and is thus discouraged from common practice; and, therefore be it further
RESOLVED, that while each delegate to the Association is free to vote in any way they so choose, the NC State Student Senate encourages that before those votes are cast, in order to preserve unity among the delegation, every effort should be made to consult with all other members of the delegation to ensure adequate representation of the interests of North Carolina State University and its student body.
