A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTILED AN ACT TO SUPPORT VETERANSÕ AFFAIRS ON CAMPUS

 

 


Short Title: Veteran Support Act

WHEREAS, There is a large and growing contingency of veterans on NC StateÕs campus; and,

 

WHEREAS,  According to the Department of Registration & Records For the Spring 2008 semester there are approximately 350 students accessing GI Bill benefits and another 58 using tuition assistance from the Army National Guard; and,

 

WHEREAS, We are currently faced with troop deployment that has greatly augmented both the number of veterans and the number of returning veterans; and,

 

WHEREAS, The Raleigh Veterans Center will be partnering with the Counseling Center and Disability Service Office both to provide VA care and to foster campus veterans to available services at the local, state, and federal levels; and,

 

WHEREAS, Any and all efforts should be taken on campus to increase knowledge of available benefits; now therefore be it,

 

RESOLVED, That the NC State Student Senate supports the Raleigh Vet Center in its endeavors on campus; and be it further,

 

RESOLVED, That we extend our assistance, as practicable, to the Raleigh Vet Center, along with the above campus services to increase awareness of those services that are available to veterans.
