ENTILED AN ACT TO ADD THE RECITATION OF THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE UNITED
STATES FLAG TO THE AGENDA FOR ALL MEETINGS OF THE STUDENT SENATE

WHEREAS, the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag was originally
written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Congress officially recognized the Pledge of Allegiance as the official national pledge on June 22, 1942; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Congress and other elected bodies of government in the United States begin every session with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance; and,
WHEREAS, all students of North Carolina State University are either citizens or inhabitants of the United States of America; now therefore be it,
RESOLVED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that each meeting of the Student Senate shall begin with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance immediately following the Call to Order; and be it further,
RESOLVED, this act shall be effective upon its enrollment; and be it further;
RESOLVED, the Student Body Statutes Chapter 2, Article 1, Rule 3, Part B (“Order of Business”) shall be amended as follows:
(b) Order of
Business. After being called to order, the recitation of the Pledge of
Allegiance
to the United States flag, and calling the roll to establish the presence of a quorum, the
Senate shall proceed with its business as follows:
(1) Approval of the journal of the previous meeting;
(2) Receipt of petitions and other correspondence addressed to the Senate;
(3) Reports of the Officers;
(4) Reports of Senate Standing Committees, in alphabetical order;
(5) Reports of Senate Select & Permanent Committees, in alphabetical order;
(6) Comments & Announcements;
(7) Motions to fast-track appointments;
(8) Approval of appointments of Senators and other Student Government
Officials;
(9) Election of Senate Officers;
(10) Veto Messages from the Student Body President;
(11) Consent Agenda;
(12) First Reading of legislation;
(13) Motions to fast-track;
(14) Referrals to committee;
(15) Second Reading of legislation;
(16) Miscellaneous Business;
(17) Comments & Announcements.
