AN ACT TO IMPROVE SENATORS' UNDERSTANDING OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
Summary of Purpose:
This bill calls for the Committee on Leadership Development to develop and administer a workshop explaining the active role of a Senator. This workshop aims to increase Senators' understanding of procedure and increase productivity within the Senate. All new Senators would be required to attend this workshop.

Short Title: Senate Legislation Training Act

WHEREAS, many Senators have identified concerns of the student body, but because most Senators do not know how to draft bills, these concerns are not addressed by the Senate   ; and,

 

WHEREAS, time is wasted during Senate meetings to explain rules that Senators should already be aware of; and,

 

WHEREAS, if Senators knew how to develop an idea or concern into legislation, the Senate would become much more productive; now therefore be it,

 

RESOLVED, that the Committee on Leadership Development will develop a workshop entitled “First Term Senator Training” explaining Senator responsibilities and expectations; and be it further,

 

RESOLVED, all Senators serving their first term will be required to attend this workshop upon being elected to Senate
