WHEREAS, on September 19-21, 2008, Student Government officials met and collectively formulated a mission statement to express the purpose of Student Government; and,
WHEREAS given the resources put into the formulation of this mission statement, it is only logical to codify this in Student Body Statutes, now therefore be it;
ENACTED, by the
Section 1. Statutory Authority. This bill is adopted pursuant to the provisions of Article II, Sections 5(d) and 5(e) of the Student Body Constitution, and Chapter 2, Rule 17(b)(3) of the Student Body Statutes.
Section 2. The entirety of Chapter 1 shall be reviewed, and all errors relating to sequential section and list numbering shall be corrected.
Section 3. Student Body Statutes §1-1.5 ("Student Government Mission Statement") shall be inserted and subsequent articles shall be incremented accordingly:
§1-1.5. Student Government
The mission of the NC State University Student Government shall be as follows:
Founded and funded by students, the NC State University Student Government encourages students to express their concerns and ideas, promotes an environment of open discourse and academic excellence, and proactively represents the student voice to the University administration and Board of Trustees through ethical and accountable public service.
Section 4. This act shall be in effect upon enrollment.
